Merry Christmas
I can't believe Christmas has come and gone already! We had a wonderful weekend full of good food and good family time!
Traditionally, we go to breakfast with the Eglestons on Christmas Eve and this year was no different. We ate at the Baker's Cafe on King St and then wandered a bit up the street.
We went to the 5 o'clock service at church to watch the children's pageant. DuBose behaved fairly well, only squealing every once in a while about something. After church Mom hosted the Christmas Eve family gathering at her house. We had lots of family and yummy chicken salad sandwiches, mexican dip, ham, baked brie, cookies, brownies, and PB&J sandwiches.
We went home to spend the night at our house and wait for Santa! I have to say that I was dying to take pictures of the activities that occurred after DuBose went to bed, but I was afraid he would see them later in life and realize that some things aren't real about Christmas. I want him to experience the magic as long as he can!!
We woke up early (I woke up early and dragged everyone downstairs) and went straight downstairs to see if Santa had visited. He certainly came and left us all lots of goodies! We opened our presents here and then headed to Mom and Dad's house to open presents there and to have Christmas breakfast. We stayed until it was time to put DuBose down for a nap and then headed home.
Our next stop was the Egleston's for a family Christmas dinner. We took my grandmother's macaroni and cheese because it really isn't Christmas for me unless I have some of that! In fact, this was the first Christmas in 30 years that I didn't see my grandparents on Christmas. Very sad! Dinner at the Eglestons was delicious! We had ham, green bean casserole, potatoes, broccoli salad, and mac and cheese.
We had a great day and are already looking forward to next year when we will have two boys to share Christmas with!!
Mom needed a card to send out and we finally were able to take this so she will be sending Happy New Year cards this year :)
DuBose thought Christmas was great!!
DuBose loved opening his stocking. He found cars, crayons, playdo, books, bubble bath, and a magna doodle in there!!
Santa left DuBose his first car - a police car! DuBose loves the sirens!!
DuBose got a huge train table from CiCi and Da! It is going in his new room!! He loves it - mainly disassembling all the pieces and putting them in the drawers :)
My mother and sister have been shopping for Christmas presents for DuBose for months now so when my dad wanted to go shopping for him the week before Christmas Mom told him that he didn't need to get anything else. Well, Da didn't think that was fair so he set out shopping for him anyway. He came home with this basketball goal. We have put it in the driveway and DuBose loves it!! Dad says that he is going to start his Christmas shopping for his grandsons in October next year!!
DuBose loves his Aunt Jennie!! Thanks, JJ for all the great toys and clothes you gave to DuBose!! He is lucky to have you!!
