Millwood Farm
We went to Millwood this weekend with the Smiths. It's always fun to have a houseful especially when this houseful needs zero entertaining (not that I mind entertaining, but sometimes it's nice to just relax and not worry that your guests have enough towels because they all know where the towels are). Plus, we can put these friends to work :)
Hummingbird came to visit
Stephen has recently taken up hunting and was able to shoot his first deer Friday night. I don't know who was more excited, him or his boys.
Pinckney put the obligatory blood on him. They all went to the processor and were full of stories about what they saw there.
Lots of children, lots of boots
These two had the best, dirtiest time ever.
The kids played and played and played while Caroline tried out the mower
Stephen sighting in his new rifle.
DuBose and DuBose went hunting Saturday afternoon for DuBose's first hunting experience.
They saw two does, but they were too small to shoot.
Stephen and Pinckney went too, but they didn't see anything either.
We needed to use the TV this morning for five minutes peace and to keep everyone clean before breakfast. Washing this crew up for a meal is an event.
I wanted to see the peanut fields so we went back over there to watch the big tractors harvesting the peanuts from the plants that had already been dug up and turned over.
They paddled out, but oops
they forgot the hammer.
They got it up
And I made sure to tell the kids to take a good look - this is what "redneck" means :)
Such a goofball but I can't complain - he's always a willing subject for me to photograph
Fordham and his Bess Beetle
Everyone played hard, worked hard, ate well, and got really dirty.
It was a fun, productive weekend with great friends.
We always have fun with the Smiths!
