Mills, the Acolyte

I love that they have Chapel at school. AndI love that the kids are so involved in it. Mills' class was the first up to be acolytes so I went today.

He is a torch bearer.

This is his new friend Prescott. Mills was really bummed when his 3 best friends were put in a different class from him. He decided on the first day though that he was going to be fine and he might even make a new friend. Well, Prescott is new this year and Mills' teacher asked him if he would be Prescott's helper until Prescott felt comfortable at PG. Apparently, Mills and Prescott are two peas in a pod and are having the best time together at school. Mills even went home with Prescott on Monday and had the best time! I am so glad that he is making new friends and that he is being such a great helper to Prescott. Mills is excited about his friends, old and new!

We had a special treat at chapel because our mayor, John Tecklenburg was our speaker. 

He gave us a little concert on the piano first

and then spoke about responsibility which is the first virtue the kids will study this year. He did a great job explaining the responsibilities of his job as mayor and tying it into the kids' responsibilities at school.

Very cool to have him there!

Great job, Mills! Love your smile up on that stage and knowing that you are learning such great values at school!!
