Solar Eclipse

We were able to witness the coolest thing today. The 2017 Solar Eclipse was as awesome as all the hype made it out to be. The school had a party for the faculty, staff and their families since today was a teacher work day in preparation of school starting tomorrow.

We went over to school, had our BBQ lunch and then donned our glasses to wait for the big show. It was super cloudy today unfortunately. But that just meant that when the clouds cleared away, and we had an unobstructed view of the sky, it was even more impressive.

What a neat treat for our whole PG family. The kids loved running around with their friends and then sitting with us to watch various parts of it. The two minutes of totality were so surreal. So surreal! Even DuBose, who was skeptical of all the hype, was impressed with the whole thing. I was completely amazed and loved it. Watching the sky become dark and having all the lights that are on sensors at night come on was so cool. And then watching the light slowly come back across the field. Crazy!

Brink had the school camera and the 300 mm lens I have been borrowing the past few weeks on a tripod and was able to get some really great shots of the whole thing...

Like I said, so cool. I am so glad we were able to experience this. And to be in the path of totality without having to travel anywhere to see was just perfect. We basically experienced this awesomeness from our backyard.  Truly an amazing thing.
