Beaufort Mini Break

We were able to sneak away for the night by boat to Beaufort. Nana kept the kids and we rode the few hours down on a beautiful day!

We had reserved a slip in the marina for the night so after docking, we grabbed our backpacks and headed into downtown Beaufort to walk around.

We checked into 607 Bay St which is a great waterfront boutique inn in a gorgeous, historic home.

We walked all around Beaufort and spent some time on the front veranda of the inn reading and watching the boats go by. It was the perfect day.

Our room was the two windows on the left on the second floor.

The view

We ended our perfect day with the best meal I have eaten in a long time. We went to the Griffin Market which is in a little hole int he wall that you wouldn't know was there unless you were looking. Reservations are highly recommended - it's small, serving only 10-15 people max at a time. It's Prix Fixe Menu with no substitutions or changes - there are actually rules listed: Like, you can only have bread with the Primi course and don't ask for it any other time or for any more of it. At first, I was a bit put off by their "rules" but after eating this awesome food, they can make up any rules they want to really :-) That good!

This was the perfect little 24 hour getaway to Beaufort that I hope we can do often!
